The 2012 GSP National Show and Obedience trial was held over 3 days, starting last Friday, followed by another Specialty show yesterday, and the Adelaide Royal Show today.
Overall, I was very pleased with my dogs' results during these events.
Last Friday, Diesel (Ch Oakridge Intercooled CCD) won the Novice Obedience class, and his daughter Nikki (Ch Oakridge Lyric CD) was very unlucky not to have won the Open class ... but for a little hitch when she decided to "examine" the steward (a friend of mine) in the figure of eight part of the heel work. This little misdemeanor spoilt an otherwise impeccable performance by her - her first attempt at this level of competition. Despite this, I was extremely happy with her overall performance, gaining 2nd place (NQ) in the ring.
"Baby" Hudson (at 10 months of age) gained 3rd place (NQ) in the CCD Class, handled on the day by good friend, Helen (owner of Jax, the Agility star).
At the National Show, held last Saturday and Sunday, the dogs fared very well in the placings, with the most notable result being that Hudson (Oakridge Obsidian) won PUPPY IN SHOW!
Hudson's litter sister, Muriel (Oakridge Opalesque, owned by Mark Rayner) was placed 2nd in Puppy Bitch class.
Little Sascha (Oakridge Panache) won the Baby Puppy Bitch class and was OPPOSITE SEX BABY IN SHOW.
Diesel (Ch Oakridge Intercooled CCD) was shown to perfection by Lauren (Woodwych Knls), winning the Veteran Dog class and was OPPOSITE SEX VETERAN IN SHOW. His litter sister, Rosy (Ch Oakridge Icecapade) was placed 2nd in the Veteran Bitch class.
Nikki (Lyric) gained a 4th place in INTERMEDIATE BITCH, and Breaker (Ch Oakridge Ice Breaker NRD CD) also gained a 4th place in AUST BRED DOG.
At the GSP Championship Show held yesterday, Sascha again won the Baby Puppy Bitch class and Op Sex Baby in Show, Hudson and Muriel both came 2nd in their respective Puppy classes, and Nikki, Breaker and Cheryl's Kobi were all amongst the placings in their respective classes.
Today just topped off a wonderful (but exhausting) few days, when Kobi (Oakridge Killarney) gained 2nd place in Aust Bred dog class and then went on to win Reserve Challenge Dog at the Adelaide Royal Show. Once again, Hudson and Muriel gained 2nd placings in their puppy classes, and Breaker and Nikki gained 3rd placings in their classes.
A very successful few days, spent in the company of some wonderful friends, from near and far!
