A little history ...

My involvement in GSPs began in 1985 with the purchase of Abby, my first ever dog (any breed). She was no oil painting, but she had a wonderful friendly and tolerant (of my fumbling attempts at training her) temperament. Together we learned all about both Obedience & Retrievng trials.
Four years later along came Spice, who was later to become the foundation for my future breeding plans. I remember being very particular, right back in those early days, about choosing a pup with a good, robust temperament. It paid off, as quite by accident I'd also managed to choose a puppy from a litter sired by a young dog who himself was not worked, but had proven working dogs behind him, and who also went on to produce quite a number of very good working dogs himself.
Spice was a beautifully soft mouthed hunting machine, and I have tried my very best to retain those qualities in the dogs that I have bred, right from my very first litter in 1994.
Along the way, I have introduced a number of other well-tested bloodlines from around the world to complement my quest for all-round versatile and trainable hunting dogs.
I searched Australia-wide to find a sire for my first litter, and came up with a dog who was not only shown and worked successfully, but also had a pedigree full of equally well trialled and tested dogs.
I believe that this paid off, as from a litter of only 5 puppies, 4 of them were successfully worked throughout their lives, and the other certainly had the ability to (I'd tested and trained him as a pup).
Three of these pups obtained working titles, and indeed two of them became Dual Champions - one of these being my soul-mate, Jason, known officially as Dual Ch (R) Oakridge Argonaut CDX (pictured).
This dog had the most generous heart, and despite having an absolutely full-on approach to life, was the most biddable dog you could wish for. A retrieve-a-holic, he too had a beautifully soft mouth. He excelled in the show ring (All Breeds Best in Show & multiple Best in Group winner), in the Obedience Trial ring, as a working dog, and part-time SES Search & Rescue dog.
In my minds eye, I have a picture of my perfect versatile GSP, and in each litter that I have produced since that first one, I have attempted to produce balanced and capable working German Shorthaired Pointers.
