Dual Ch (R) Oakridge Argonaut CDX
Ch Wauchope Alamo Mission RRD x Ch Heiderst Fire N Ice RRD CDX
He was my canine soul mate.
Jason was all style, all heart, and a full-on versatile and biddable Shorthair. He is, to date, Australia's only All Breeds Best in Show winning Dual Champion GSP.
Jason was a member of the inaugural State Emergency Service Search & Rescue Dog Team for a number of years.
In his limited show career, Jason won an All Breeds Best in Show, Specialty Runner-up Best in Show, 3 Best in Group and numerous class in show awards, was a National Championship Show class winner, as well as a Royal Show Best of Breed winner.
In a five year working career, he won the South Australian Canine Association Top Retrieving Dog award, GSPCSA Top Retrieving, Top Dual Purpose and Top Obedience awards numerous times, Gundog Club SA Top Retrieving and Top Obedience Dog also numerous times, plus Kane, Winchester, Sandarand & Debonaire trophies, and several other awards at both State Championship and National retrieving trials.
Not only successful in the show ring, obedience trial ring and out in the field, he was able to impart his qualities, from very limited breedings, to his offspring. Jason has sired a Dual Champion, a Tracking Champion, almost another Retrieving Champion, plus other show, retrieving and obedience titled dogs, and GSP National Show and Sydney Royal Show Challenge winners. To quote a notable breeder/owner commenting on one of Jasons sons "I have never had such an "up" dog with such a soft mouth".
Jason was graded Excellent at the 1998 GSP National by FCI judge Mieneke Mills de Hoog (France). He won his class at that event, only days after winning Challenge Dog at the Northern Classic show, and placing 3rd in All Age at the GSP Retrieving Trial, held in conjunction with the National.
Jason's attitude and personality were evident in the show ring, and his ability, enthusiasm and style overflowed in the field.
Rest in peace, my dear friend.
