Hudson and Sascha were both awarded 2nd placings in their respective Intermediate classes, Nikki was 6th in Open Bitch, and dear old Breaker was 4th in Veteran Dog class.
On the very first day of the National, at the obedience trial, Nikki won 1st Place in the Open class (one of only 4 dogs out of 19 competing to gain a pass at this event - the weather was dreadful!).
The big star of our trip however, turned out to be newcomer to my home, Nugget (Oakridge Nusakan).
He had obtained an EXCELLENT grading at the National, but had been unplaced in quite a strong Open Dog class at that event.
The next day however, at the GSP Championship Show, he won the Open Dog class, and much to my surprise, was also awarded Challenge Dog! To top this off, he also won Runner-up Best in Show, beaten for Best by a very nice young Edelhof bitch. I was over the moon with his success!
Others to gain minor placings in their classes at the Champ Show were Cheryl's Kobi (Ch Oakridge Killarney) in Aust Bred dog, and Hudson (O. Obsidian CCD) and Sascha (O. Panache) in their respective Intermediate classes.
Special mention must be made of the very consistent results for Rohan Couris' young dog Lianadam Magna Kasper who won the Junior Dog class at both the National and Champ Show, and Norma and Renzo's Lianadam Magna Kreig who came 2nd to his brother in Junior Dog class at the Champ Show. Norma and Renzo bred these two young dogs, who are sired by my dear old boy, Ch Oakridge Fernando AARD, out of their own very nice girl, Ch Oakridge Kleopatra ET
After one day in the rain and fog at the obedience trial, and 3 days running around with 8 dogs at the National and Champ Shows (and helping another exhibitor in the Property Classes), my poor body was close to seizing up by the end of it all!
Many thanks to Norma and Renzo for offering the hospitality of their company, and gazebo, at these events - I have no idea where we would have fitted a tent into the car, with all the dogs and other gear we were carrying!
