Nora herself, has a lovely friendly and biddable nature. In the short time that we have had to get to know each other, I have found her to be an enthusiastic retriever and very confident and capable in the water. I purchased her, sight unseen, on the recommendation of a friend. The sire of the pups (KS Ilex II von Neuarenberg) has been a very popular sire throughout Europe and has previously produced some very beautiful progeny. I was lucky enough to meet him, and well-performed progeny of his, during my visit to Germany in 2014. I feel very privileged, and lucky, to have been able to use him at stud over Nora, before importing her, and am looking forward to seeing how their puppies develop.
Barely a month ago, I imported a bitch in whelp from Germany - Nora Anjules (D1 S1 VJP) - who has now, much to my immense relief, safely given birth to a nice litter of 3 dogs and 6 bitches (both brown & white and black & white puppies).

Sascha worked remarkably well, and consistently, during the first half of the retrieving season, however this was curtailed when Kimmi's puppies arrived.
In only 4 weekends of trialling earlier this year, Sascha (Ch Oakridge Panache NRD ORA CCD) managed to gain 2 wins and three Second placings (and only missed first place at two of these, by one point!). My friend Neville also enjoyed some success with his boy Riley (Oakridge Lochinvar ORA NRD) gaining a 3rd then a 1st Place in Restricted. Well done, Neville and Riley! I have been incredibly pleased with the way that Kimmi and Hudson's puppies have started to shape up, so much so, that I would be tempted to repeat that mating some time down the track (something that I have never done before!). They all performed well with their temperament tests, with amazingly consistent results, especially given that there were 12 of them. All have gone to their lovely new homes now, and I wish them well.
After one completely sleepless night (for Kimmi and myself!), she has safely delivered a bountiful litter of 12 puppies (5 boys, 7 girls)-all happy, content, and doing well. If these pups prove to be anything like their parents, they should be friendly, outgoing and easily-trainable dogs with nice stable temperaments. Looking forward to watching them develop.
My girl, Sascha (Ch Oakridge Panache ORA CCD) achieved a 1st place in Novice at the first retrieving trialling weekend for the season, held a couple of weeks ago, and just last weekend Neville and Riley gained 3 qualifying scores, as well as 4th, 2nd and then 1st placings at the Open RATG (retrieving) trials, which earns Riley a new ORA title. He will now officially be known as Oakridge Lochinvar ORA.
Congratulations Neville and Riley! We've had a bit of a news "drought" lately, but here is the latest ...
Firstly, a huge "CONGRATULATIONS" to Cheryl on Maloo completing his show title just recently, with a very impressive 17 point Best of Breed award! Maloo will now be officially known as Ch Oakridge Tanagra. A number of "Oakridge" dogs featured in the GSP Club SA annual awards for 2017: Dean's Oakridge Quadroneur CCD was awarded Top Obedience Dog, Neville's Oakridge Lochinvar NRA QC was awarded Top Retrieving Dog, and my own girl Oakridge Panache ORA CCD gained the Top Retrieving Bitch award. "CONGRATULATIONS" to Dean and Neville! Not a lot else happening over summer, apart from a bit of training in preparation for the upcoming retrieving season, although I did attend a few shows with the youngsters. Kimmi (Itsgottabe Never Say Never Imp NZ) is now well on the way to achieving her show Championship title, with a number of classes in group and a nice Reserve Best in Group award under her belt. Dewey (Oakridge Ungaro) has also added to his points tally towards his title, and collected a few class in group awards along the way. We have some training days coming up shortly, before seriously launching into the trialling season. This will be quite a treat, after I had to sit out most of last season due to a knee injury. My first litter in over 18 months should be arriving late next month, too, which I am really looking forward to! What an unbelievably successful trip I had to Melbourne just recently, for the GSP Club of Victoria's 50th Anniversary Championship Show, under judge Michael Hammerer (President of the DKV in Germany)!
Young Dewey (Oakridge Ungaro) not only won Puppy in Show but also Runner-up to Best in Show! His close relative, Hudson (Oakridge Obsidian NRA CCD) was awarded 2nd in Open Dog class, behind the eventual Best in Show winner, plus he won both the Field/Retrieving QC class and the Obedience QC class as well! The two girls didn't fare quite as well as the boys, but both managed to gain placings in their respective classes. Show successes aside, I had a wonderful time over there, enjoying the hospitality of both Kerry and Norma, spending a great evening with a fun group of people at the Club's wonderful Anniversary celebration dinner, as well as doing a little bit of sightseeing through some stunning countryside. A memorable trip for sure! Pictured below is Dewey on the left, and Hudson on the right, with their brilliant young local handler, Amy. Firstly, at the one and only Retrieving Trial that I was able to attend this year in May (prior to my injury), Sascha (Ch Oakridge Panache ORA CCD) won the Novice Stake, and Riley (Oakridge Lochinvar QC) who I was handling for his owner, Neville, came 3rd in the same event. Sadly, that was the sum total of our trialling year, until the recently held National GSP event here in SA between 4th and 6th of September. At the National GSP RATG (working test), Hudson (pictured here) came 2nd in the Novice stake and thus earned his NRA title at this event, so he will now be know as Oakridge Obsidian CCD NRA, and then Nugget (Ch Oakridge Nusakan NRD ORA CCD) won the Open stake, and Sascha came 2nd in the Open event. I was incredibly pleased with their efforts as none of them had been doing any training at all, apart from a last minute session with the assistance of a friend of mine, just prior to the trial! At the National GSP Show event, Hudson was placed 4th in a very impressive Open Dog class, and Dewey (Oakridge Ungaro) was 5th in the Puppy Dog class. Sascha won both the Field/Retrieving QC class and the Obedience QC class at this event. For dogs who had been almost completely out of circulation for the past 4 months (especially the pup), I was very pleased with their efforts!
