BIG congratulations to Michael and Heidi!
A Beginners Stake/Sweepstakes was also held last weekend at the same lovely property, where newcomers to retrieving, Michael and Heidi (Oakridge Quills), did some nice work to earn a 2nd placing at this event.
BIG congratulations to Michael and Heidi!

Last weekend I attended a Retrieving Ability Test trial, for the first time with my own dogs. It proved to be quite a successful weekend, with Sascha (Oakridge Panache CCD) obtaining a 1st placing in the Novice Stake on Saturday afternoon, Zella (Birkenwald Bacara RRD CD, Imp UK) gaining a 1st place in the Open Stake on Saturday morning and another 2nd placing on Sunday, and the star of the weekend, Nugget, gaining 4th and 2nd placings in the Novice Stakes held on Saturday, and then 1st place on Sunday! With these 3 qualifying passes in Novice, Nugget has now earned the Novice Retrieving Ability title, and will soon officially be known as Oakridge Nusakan NRA. A big thank you to my friend and "strapper" for the day, Helen, for your assistance, whilst I was hobbling around on one leg! Pictured here are me with Nugget, and the judge. I received a very happy phone call from John Nairn late this afternoon, advising me that his young boy, Rocky (Oakridge Sirocco) had won the Novice Retrieving Ability Test for Gundogs today! Rocky is sired by Rt Ch Yorifeld Tornado NFD out of Oakridge Panache CCD, and seems to share his mother's love of water. I think that John is enjoying training this very calm and easygoing young (not yet one year old) boy.
Big CONGRATULATIONS with your achievements today, John and Rocky! I've been rather tardy with my news updates of late, so here are a few of them ...
Firstly, Cheryl's young girl Kira (Oakridge Quahira) gained her first lot of points towards her show title back in February, with two Challenges and a nice Best of Breed, totaling 17 points! Kira was expertly handled by a lovely young child handler, who does a great job with her (and can run faster with Kira than I can!). Well done, everyone! The next achievement was with my spunky black and white girl Nikki, who gained the final pass to earn her CDX title. She is now officially known as Ch Oakridge Lyric CDX. Over Easter, I attended the Easter obedience trials at Mt Gambier. Unfortunately, I couldn't trial Nikki as she had hurt her foot, but I did trial Sascha, who gained the last pass for her CCD title and will now be officially known as Oakridge Panache CCD. As a bit of an afterthought, because he really hasn't had enough training yet, I also entered Nugget (Oakridge Nusakan) in the CCD class, and he also obtained a pass (almost two of them!) towards that title. I was very pleased with his efforts - I think he got more obedience "training" at the trials than he's had in his whole life! |
